Dear Self Care

Legal

Privacy Policy

Last updated November 2026

Dear Self Care ("we," "us," or "our") is a wellness and self-care platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Dear Self Care you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

  • Account information — your email address, display name, and (optionally) profile photo.
  • Content you create — journal entries, mood check-ins, breathing session logs, self-care calendars, event RSVPs, worksheet responses, and messages you send to Sage or to Sharnell.
  • Usage data — basic diagnostic information (device type, error reports, feature interactions) used to keep the app working.
  • Authentication data — if you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the email address and identifier they provide. We do not receive your password.

How we use your information

  • To provide the features you request (journaling, Sage chat, appointments, resources, events).
  • To personalize your experience, such as showing your recent activity or nudges.
  • To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
  • To contact you about important account or service updates.

Sharing your information

Your journal entries and Sage conversations are private by default. We do not sell your personal information. We share data only:

  • With you, and — if you explicitly opt in in Settings — with Sharnell (admin) for individual Sage conversations.
  • With service providers that host our infrastructure, database, authentication, email, and AI processing, under contractual confidentiality.
  • When required by law, subpoena, or to protect the safety of any person.

AI processing

Sage is powered by third-party large language models. Messages you send to Sage are transmitted to those providers to generate responses. Sage is not a licensed clinician and cannot provide medical advice, diagnosis, or crisis support.

Data retention and deletion

You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. When you do, we permanently remove your profile, journal entries, Sage messages, RSVPs, and other content associated with your account. Backups are purged on a rolling basis (up to 30 days). Some records required by law (for example, financial or abuse-report records) may be retained longer.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, email hello@dearselfcare.com.

Children

Dear Self Care is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (HTTPS), authenticated APIs, and role-based database access. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email.
